The spike in searches was due to Google putting a street camera on a boat on Loch Ness to look for Nessie. This shows up in the alternate spelling of NessY as well.

The truer search volume is shown in this chart from 2014.

The dip in results for July and August I put down to people actually being on vacation rather than carrying out searches on Google.
